so a friend’s old computer is pretty much infested with viruses, trojans, and malware. every time we try to boot up, a ‘drwtsn32.exe failed to initialize’ error pops up and then shuts down.
i can’t boot up into safe mode (I get a BSoD if i do) or do a system restore
so i need a bootable antivirus from CD that can support an 800x600x16 resolution screen. the ones i’ve already tried are either unsupported by the video drivers or doesn’t fit the resolution…
i’ve tried so far kaspersky, avira, dr.web, bitdefender, hiren’s, and f-secure, all which have been unable to do the job.
my friend would rather not do a reformat… but if it comes to that any tools/suggestions how to do it?
so does anyone have a free bootable antivirus that can run on low screen resolution?? thanks so much we really need help!

My advice is to take out the hard disk and mount it on a good PC as secondary drive.
Then you boot up the good PC and scan the infected drive with the latest anti-virus program.

Don’t know if it will support 800X600, but have you tried AVG? You can download the free version from http://www.download.com.
For the spyware, try malwarebytes, spybot:search and destroy, and adaware, all free and also oon download.com.

Use Dr. Web “CureIt” bootable disc.
